Soldered Electronics is looking for an AI Application Engineer to build and maintain the internal applications our teams depend on, developed to specification for departments across the company. The systems, processes, and expectations for this role are already set up and ready to go, so you can ramp up quickly and start shipping.
This is a hands-on engineering role built around AI-accelerated development. You use AI intensively to speed up your work, but as a tool, not a replacement for your own judgment: you are responsible for the outputs you get, you build critical infrastructure yourself, and you test rigorously to guarantee stability and correctness before anything ships. You report to the Project Manager, and you're expected to understand company processes and goals well enough that deadlines and quality are never a source of concern.
A significant part of this role is building the applications the content team relies on to produce and manage Soldered's product content, so you'll work closely with them to understand their workflow and turn it into reliable tools. Beyond that, you're proactive across the company's IT systems more broadly, occasionally helping maintain servers and providing IT support to colleagues. Over your first year, you'll also build real depth on Soldered's products and customers, particularly around how that content gets made.
Developing internal applications to specification for various departments across the company
Using AI tools intensively to accelerate development, while retaining full control over and responsibility for the output
Building and testing critical infrastructure yourself to ensure stability and correctness
Understanding company processes and goals well enough to deliver against specification independently
Proactively monitoring, maintaining and improving the company's IT systems
Building and maintaining the tools the content team relies on to produce and manage Soldered product content
Building deep product and customer knowledge along the way, particularly around how that content gets made
The following KPIs define success for this role. We don't expect them on day one, but these are the targets you will be measured against:
Within 1 month: Full understanding of the current structure of the company's IT systems and applications
Within 3 months: Developing new systems independently to specification
Proactive, with a genuine interest in learning new technologies and no fear of trying new things
Highly familiar with current AI solutions, you've actually used and tested them, not just read about them
Someone who understands software architecture and its core concepts, such as databases and APIs
Comfortable programming in at least 2 programming languages
Some experience with (web) applications development
Business fluent in English, spoken and written (mandatory)
[Preferred] Experienced building applications using tools like Claude Code or Codex
Aligned with how we work: no egos, full ownership, direct communication, and a bias toward simple solutions
A fast-growing electronics company with in-house development and manufacturing
Shipping 200+ products to customers and distributors in 85+ countries
A team with high standards, minimal bureaucracy, and zero micromanagement
A place where strong performers get real responsibility and rewards fast
Besides the benefits that every modern company offers, we also offer:
A reporting line to the Project Manager, with clear expectations and fast feedback
Real ownership over the internal tools and systems the whole company depends on
The chance to work at the edge of AI-assisted software development, not just talk about it
A lean environment where you learn fast through real projects, in a culture focused on growth, feedback, and continuous improvement
Work with small teams of young, motivated, and helpful people
The salary range and any bonus structure are listed on the left side of this ad.
If you can build reliable software fast by putting AI to work while still owning the outcome, show us how you'd approach your first 3 months and apply on this page.
