About Soldered Electronics

Soldered Electronics is a fast-growing European hardware company based in Osijek, Croatia. We design, engineer and manufacture electronics used by thousands of makers, engineers and companies worldwide (customers in 80+ countries). Our portfolio includes Arduino-compatible boards, Smart Home hardware, sensors, the Inkplate e-paper family, and custom hardware developed and manufactured for global clients. The best part? We build everything ourselves. From product design and firmware to SMT assembly and testing, it's all under one roof in Osijek, Croatia. That gives us quality, speed and flexibility, and a clear competitive advantage. We work in three business units: • Soldered for Makers (SFM) - maker, engineering and hobbyists products and e-paper boards. • Soldered Manufacturing (SM) - electronics manufacturing for in-house and EMS clients. • Soldered Engineering (SE) - high-value custom hardware development focused on e-paper technologies. Our culture is high-expectation and no nonsense: smart people, clear communication, ownership, data, and consistency. You will fit here if you want a place where your work is visible, decisions move fast, and engineering actually matters.

Job overview

Soldered Electronics is looking for an Embedded SW Engineer to develop firmware for our products across multiple embedded platforms and microcontrollers. The code you write ends up in devices we ship to customers and distributors in 85+ countries, so quality, timing, and discipline matter.

This is a hands-on engineering role, on-site in Osijek. You report to the Project Manager & Embedded Software Team Lead, work directly with hardware engineers and the rest of the development team, and your code is reviewed by peers who care about the same standards you do. You deliver on time, communicate problems early and directly, follow the team's coding standards, and help colleagues when they need you. The rest of the team covers hardware design, manufacturing, and product management; your territory is the firmware that brings the product to life.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing embedded firmware in C++ for a range of microcontroller platforms, and sometimes in python

  • Writing code that meets the team's standards for quality, readability, and review

  • Working close to the hardware: reading schematics, using measurement equipment, debugging at the signal level

  • Communicating delivery risks and unexpected situations early and directly to the lead or PM

  • Following team workflows for version control, documentation, and code review

  • Helping colleagues when they need support, and contributing to the team's collective standard

KPIs

The following KPIs define success for this role. We don't expect them on day one, but these are the targets you will be measured against:

  • Within 1 month: 90% of assigned tasks delivered by the agreed deadline; for the remaining 10%, deviation communicated to the PM or lead at least 48 hours in advance

  • Within 3 months: Code passes review on first submission in 95% of cases

  • Within 3 months: Consistent adherence to team workflows for version control (branch and PR naming, commit hygiene) and documentation (READMEs, in-code comments where required by standard)

You are

  • An embedded software engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience programming embedded systems

  • Proficient in C++ and comfortable with CMake

  • Capable of reading electronic schematics and using measurement equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer)

  • Detail-oriented and precise; you care about the code you ship

  • Collegial: you help your teammates and respect the standards the team has set

  • Genuinely interested in electronics and how embedded systems work

  • Good with spoken and written English

We are

  • A fast-growing electronics company with in-house development and manufacturing

  • Shipping 200+ products to customers and distributors in 85+ countries

  • A team with high standards, minimal bureaucracy, and zero micromanagement

  • A place where strong performers get real responsibility and rewards fast

What we offer

Besides the benefits that every modern company offers, we also offer:

  • Work on real products that ship to real customers, not internal-only projects

  • Close collaboration with hardware engineers and product owners

  • A lean environment where you learn fast through real projects, in a culture focused on growth, feedback, and continuous improvement

  • Work with small teams of young, motivated, and helpful people
